Ság hegy

The truncated cone of Ság hegy is the remnant of a five-million-year-old volcano: basalt mining has revealed the depths of the crater, where a nature trail now leads visitors through towering red slag walls. It was here that Loránd Eötvös conducted his famous torsion balance experiments; from the rim, the Kemenesalja region unfolds before us, with vineyards stretching out at its base.
